Illinois Tech has numerous research opportunities through its professors and connections to the nearby national labs. Understanding the breadth of opportunities available and recognizing which is best for you is a non-trivial task. Here, we have compiled resources in hopes to assist with this endeavour.
A central part of SPS IIIT is the mentorship network we host in conjunction with the SCRA, department, and university. Our resources may guide aspiring mentors as well as those interested in furthering their connection with our mentorship network as a mentee. This network is open to both alumni and current students.
Funding is often a dire resource for students. These resources demonstrate a diversity of options that students make take advantage of during their time at Illinois Tech and shortly after. If you are in a financial emergency, we encourage reaching out to a trusted faculty member or one of our mentors for further guidance.
Though SPS should likely be every physics major's first choice community to get involved with, we believe that it is important to explore the numerous other organizations that advance one's professional, social, and self development. These may be student organizations on campus as well as national societies.
Conferences are a core part of a physics student's experience. Whether interested in research, government, startups, or otherwise, attending the right conferences can advance a student's career comprehensively. Knowing what opportunities conferences provide can enhance the experience and resultant outcomes.
There's a lot that doesn't appropriately fit in any of these categories but certainly have a place in our list of resources! We've compiled them all here in a semi-logical manner. If you have a resource you think is missing from our page, please let us know by emailing us at website@spsiit.org
