At the 2024 SPS Zone 9 Meeting, around 8 SPS Chapters were represented. Since then, efforts are ongoing to unite the quantum computing student communities across the Chicagoland area as a student driven initiative with support from faculty, business, and local institutions.

Over the years, the chapter's activity, the university's landscape, and the department's position fluctuates. Recognising this, SPS IIT documents the historical details that have led it to where it is today. Though started in 2024, past resources and events are drawn from and included.
